We are delighted to announce our shortlist for the Summer 2019 FlashBack Fiction Microfiction Competition!

Here they are, in alphabetical order:

  • Bedlam
  • Gene Cernan Boards the Apollo 17 Lunar Module
  • Lunatics
  • Moon Burial
  • Moon Rabbit Over Honshu
  • Nightfall, Hiroshima, August 5th 1945
  • One Small Step (Beginning: “July 21 1969 03:56, Glasgow”)
  • Three Minutes Before St Mary’s Chimed The Quarter Hour

We will be publishing the two highly commended stories and our three prize winners over the coming week, starting on Monday, 15 July.

Then, on Monday the 22nd of July, we will publish our Judges’ Notes in which we celebrate these eight pieces and reveal our seven Editors’ Choice picks not on the shortlist.

Congratulations to our shortlistees and to the authors of our to-be-announced Editor’s Choice selections, and huge thanks to everyone who sent us a piece for consideration.  Narrowing down to eight pieces was incredibly difficult, and we appreciated the chance to read each and every story.
